Thanks to the North Face, who recently awarded $25,000 to our Texas Conservation Corps program and recognized our outstanding AmeriCorps volunteer, LaJuan Tucker, a former TXCC youth crew leader who now works as a Park Ranger for the City of Austin. LaJuan is a shining example of someone who pursued her passion for the work done by TXCC beyond American YouthWorks to go forward and make a positive impact in our community.
LaJuan still comes back to American YouthWorks to conduct trainings for TXCC members and share advice with others on how to pursue career pathways in conservation. She also does broad work throughout the community to enhance Austin’s habitats and protect our parks and natural resources. Watch this video to learn more about LaJuan’s passion for the outdoors and engaging other urban youth who grew up without exposure to nature.
